I specialise exclusively in removable prosthodontics – the provision of dentures – and have done so since 2013. I love creating natural-looking, beautifully functioning dentures that can make a genuine difference to people's lives.

I qualified as a dentist in 1993 and became a specialist in Restorative Dentistry, Prosthodontics, Periodontics and Endodontics in 2005. My wife, Rachel Seed, Specialist Orthodontist, and I established the practice in 2007.

Alongside my clinical work, teaching is an important part of what I do. I teach and mentor dentists, prosthodontists, dental technicians and clinical dental technicians in removable prosthodontics, particularly throughout the UK, Europe, the USA and Australasia.

I am now semi-retired and work clinically one day per week. I have no intention of retiring completely, as I still thoroughly enjoy treating patients and making dentures. However, because my clinical time is deliberately limited and demand is high, there can be a significant waiting time between consultation and the start of treatment.

I work very closely with my friend, a highly skilled dental technician, Rowan Garstang, whom I consider to be one of the very best in the field. Our dentures are made to exceptionally high standards here at the practice, with a considerable amount of individual clinical and technical time devoted to each patient. My fees reflect this level of expertise, the time involved and the exceptional quality of the technical work required to produce each denture.

Rowan and I aim to create high-quality removable dentures that look as natural as possible and function extremely well. However, dentures are not the same as natural teeth. Learning to use them successfully takes time, practice and neuromuscular adaptation. The best results are achieved when we work together as a team: we will provide the best dentures we can, but patients also need to be committed to learning how to use them. With time and effort, good dentures can be genuinely life-changing.

I love seeing the gain in confidence and self-esteem that my patients achieve after having orthodontic treatment - it's such a rewarding branch of dentistry to work in!

I have been providing private specialist orthodontic treatment at Garstang Dental Referral Practice since 2012. I undertake treatment for teenagers and children using different type of braces including metal and tooth coloured (clear) fixed braces, Invisalign aligners, functional braces and removable braces. I strive to provide a high level of customer service and clinical care; looking after you from your first to last visit.

I’ve always had a passion for providing orthodontic treatment after having it myself as a teenager - this is what made me decide to become a dentist from the age of 13! I qualified as a dentist in 1997 then spent 8 years working in general dental practice and various hospital departments gaining a broad base of knowledge and experience in different areas of dentistry. Since 2005, I have limited my clinical work to providing orthodontic treatment only. I completed my 3 years full-time specialist orthodontic training in Liverpool and Crewe through the University of Liverpool gaining my specialist qualification in 2008 alongside a Masters in Dental Science, with distinction. Between 2010-2015, I worked as a Specialty Doctor in the orthodontic departments at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary and Royal Preston Hospitals where I was involved in the treatment of patients with complex orthodontic problems. During this time, I was also involved in teaching dental students studying at UCLAN.

I am a specialist in periodontics (gum disease) and I love helping my patients keep their natural teeth and dental implants as long as possible. If you are worried about gum disease, wobbly teeth, bad taste or bad breath and are concerned you may end up losing your teeth, then I’m the person for you. I am obsessive about beautiful clean teeth, with daily meticulous cleaning being the bedrock of treating gum disease. I love helping my patients achieve this. I qualified as a dentist in 2003 and became a specialist in periodontics in 2013.

Dr Robert Jacobs

Specialist in Endodontics

I provide specialist endodontic treatment (root canal treatment) at Garstang Dental Referral Practice. I love helping people save their teeth that would otherwise require extracting, by providing painless and anxiety-free root canal treatment.

I provide all aspects of endodontic treatment including non-surgical endodontics, endodontic microsurgery and management of dentoalveolar trauma. I am very keen for the endodontics I provide to be as successful and long lasting as possible; as such, I will restore the tooth with a definitive restoration if requested. I have a particular interest in this area and believe that following endodontic treatment under the microscope, I am often well placed to design an optimal restoration to restore the tooth, following conservative principles. This also allows an immediate definitive seal to be placed following endodontic treatment.

I qualified as a dentist in 2012 and became a specialist in endodontics in 2018.

At Garstang Dental Referral Practice, I provide all aspects of fixed prosthodontics. This includes both the restoration and replacement of damaged or missing teeth. The best part of my job is seeing the confidence boost my patients get after allowing me to rejuvenate their teeth. Repaying the trust my patients place in me is always at the forefront of my mind and I consider this a privilege. I achieve this by meticulously planning every detail before embarking on a treatment plan. As we progress through my patient's treatment, I love seeing their self-confidence increase. I work with some of the brightest and most forward thinking dental technicians in the UK using the latest technology to achieve the best possible outcomes.

I qualified from Dublin, Ireland, in 2009 and have worked in general, hospital and referral practice since. My speciality training in prosthodontics was completed at the world famous Guy's Dental Institute in London where I qualified with a distinction.

I’m delighted to have recently joined Garstang Dental Referral Practice as an Orthodontic Specialist. I feel very fortunate to work in this speciality which often has such a positive impact on our patient’s lives. I enjoy working with a great team to make our patient’s experience as pleasant as possible.

I completed my Orthodontic Specialist training in 1996 and have a wide experience of both complex and routine treatments from working in both Hospital Orthodontic Departments and Specialist Orthodontic Practice.

I provide orthodontic treatment for children, teenagers and adults using fixed appliances, ‘Invisalign’ clear aligners, functional and removable appliances with aesthetic choices available in many cases. I am particularly keen to offer a service to younger children (from around 8 years of age) with the aim of preventing the development of complex orthodontic problems in later years. Whilst this type of preventative orthodontic assessment and treatment is widely used in other countries, such as Europe and the USA, it is not so available in the UK.

Hesham Ali

Hesham is a Specialist and Consultant Orthodontist who teaches on the MSc in Orthodontics as Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Manchester, having delivered teaching to undergraduate and postgraudate students over the last 13 years. He has lectured at a national level with the British Orthodontic Society, Dentinal Tubules and the Orthodontic Nurses Group, whilst also hosting several online webinars for GDPs and running the Aligner Pro Course in collaboration with ClearCorrect. Hesham also lectures overseas, when time allows!

Working in private practice and as a hospital consultant, Hesham treats everything from simple alignment to complex malocclusions and facial deformity using a multi-disciplinary approach. He is experienced in the use of fixed braces, ceramic braces and aligners, and continues to push the boundaries of his clinical practice.

Hesham has an enthusiasm for research and academic writing, and is published in notable orthodontic journals. He also chairs the NUC teaching consortium for orthodontic specialty trainees in the north of England and is passionate about innovation in the educational environment.
